OVERVIEW

The word dopamine is defined as a neuromodulatory molecule responsible for allowing you to feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. When you feel good that you have achieved something, it’s because you have a surge of dopamine in the brain.

CHALLENGE

In order to educate the target demographic of young school children through the ages of 6 - 12 years old through an online learning program. On the challenging subject of science, a typography design is required not only to make it visually appealing but to make education fun and simple to understand. And to challenge the negative stereotypes often associated with dopamine with a negative phone or drug addiction, emphasizing that experiencing positive emotions is normal without shame.

SOLUTION

Based off of dopamine’s molecule is inherited into its typographic design. Making it bold and made up of a variety of shapes. The typographic word can an animated and come to life through a short motion design video. Highlighting its definition where the power of symbolism and colour comes into play.

OUTCOME

The project concluded with the creation of a 35-second educational video. This video aimed to explore the concept of dopamine as a neurotransmitter in the brain, highlighting its positive effects on human behaviour and mental well-being. The design featured 2D motion graphics, with a changing colour scheme representing different aspects of dopamine. Blue symbolized its informative nature, green represented its benefits, and red conveyed the emotional response associated with dopamine surges. The meticulous process involved adjusting the colours of individual shapes in After Effects and creating a separate Illustrator document for arranging hearts. Challenging the negative and turning it into a positive and fun experience to teach young school children something new daily.
