NIDA Cultural Rebrand 2023 Season
Enhancing the power of storytelling through an entertainment institutional rebrand for its upcoming new 2023 season performances
NIDA, also known as Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art, is Australia’s premiere educational institution for training in all aspects of dramatic art. NIDA aims to empower storytellers of all ages and backgrounds through a new rebrand for its 2023 Seasonal Performances. This was achieved through a newly rebranded dynamic logo design, print collateral assets, posters, a seasonal booklet and a website home landing page UI prototype design for purchasing ticket seats.

OVERVIEW
NIDA is Australia's premier educational institution for training in all aspects of dramatic art. It was founded in 1958 as the country's first professional theatre training school. The institution is located in Kensington, New South Wales. NIDA offers a wide range of industry-relevant training in various performing arts disciplines, including acting, costume, musical theatre and dance.
CHALLENGE
NIDA exists to unlock the power of the performing arts across stage, screen, future media and beyond. NIDA requires a whole new improved branding identity that reflects the human condition of storytelling on stage. Its community consists of teachers, school students, young adults and families looking forward to the new 2023 Seasonal Performance lineup.
SOLUTION
Based on the core foundations of NIDA as both a theatre and an educational institution, our goal is to create a comprehensive and inclusive community that empowers students to unlock their full creative potential. As a creative institution that caters to all age groups and professions, this rebranding effort will emphasize the universal aspect of storytelling, allowing us to explore and venture into our imaginative worlds.
Through this rebranding, the aim is to showcase the abundance of creativity and talent that NIDA offers as an educational institution and theatre. Our objective is to captivate our audience's attention and transport them into a world beyond the ordinary, one that is vivid, vibrant, and rich with expressive storytelling. We will achieve this by using imagery to convey the untold stories waiting to be brought to life in motion, from the dazzling neon lights on stage to our flexible and carefree performances.
This rebrand represents a beacon of hope for the future of the performing arts industry in Australia. It signifies our commitment to making a significant impact on the broader creative industry, solidifying our place as a vital contributor to the world of creativity as a whole.
OUTCOME
Exploring the core foundations of what NIDA represents as a creative institution has pushed my creative potential to engage with design techniques that I rarely explore. This journey has led me to experiment with vibrant rainbow gradients and incorporate photographic imagery I captured myself.
Conveying the narratives of my chosen plays through a single poster and a double-page booklet spread proved to be a challenging task. However, I persevered and successfully designed these collateral print elements by incorporating principles such as asymmetry and the rule of thirds. My approach was to keep the design simple yet highly effective.
I am pleased with the design style I have chosen, and I believe it resonates with the essence of creativity that NIDA embodies.
