We are UnTapped Exhibition Showreel

Turning a negative prefix into a positive addition to who we are as designers through motion design showreel

UnTapped is a graphic design exhibition hosted by the 2022 graduate graphic design class. Working under the Showreel team we were required to develop a short motion design video highlighting the vairety of strengths and talents works produced throughout 2022. [UN ]is our tribute to turning a negative prefix into a positive addition to who we are. We wear our badge with pride as a group and instead focus on the positive characteristics that unite us.

OVERVIEW

During the development of the  Untapped exhibition, I was apart of the Showreel team. We were responsible for developing an animated sequence showing off the student works of 2022 Advanced Diploma. Bring the personality of the Exhibition to life in motion under a 2 minute video turning a negative prefix, [un] from a negative to a positive.

CHALLENGE

In order to make this Showreel come to life we had to further understand who our target audience is for students, family, friends, teachers and design professionals to see. Understanding what we can do to improve from the previous showreels from the previous year’s exhibitions. Diving into how an overall showreel structure is laid out, what kinds of graphic design works and presented and what are some interesting and engaging elements that could be implemented into our motion design.

SOLUTION

Using the already existing UnTapped design guide provided by the Creative Team we can use this asset along with the rest of the class’s work to showcase who we are. Coming up with the idea for the team to work on one part of the showreel including the intro, a showcase of works for the first half, the second half and the outro. With effective communication, organisation and experimentation we split the work under a couple of categories packaging, UX/UI, branding, publication and motion.

OUTCOME

Within the Showreel Team, my greatest strength was putting all of the first part of the student works together for the final showreel piece. My team and I all worked very together and we all stuck to our selective roles and communicated outside of class time if there were any questions or things worth discussing.  I made sure to have effective communication with not only my team with the rest of the other teams to make sure we were all on task in obtaining the assets we needed for the final video.

The final showreel was presented on the big screen at the 2022 Exhibition event for students, family, friends, teachers and design professionals to see.
